Zoar Reenactment

Well, the last big shooting event has come and gone. It was cold, hot, and fun. We got there on Friday morning to help our captain now out Lt. Col. Set up the streets for the tents. They had a display going on so they were shooting cannons and we could setup. After setting up and getting into character I went and looked for the flying turtle the local bar that follows the armies around. It was a cold night so I slept like crap. Woke up every couple of hours trying to get warm and what not. After a hard nights sleep, it was time to wake up.

Nick Steve, and I along with a few others went out for the morning skirmish. There were 7 of us going against just about the whole confederate army that showed up...70 rebs. We were outnumbered 10 to 1. We hid in the woods and let them come to us. They kept trying to flank us but we were spread out so they thought there were more of us. We managed to confuse them so bad we were able to get back to our camp. The actual battles weren't as fun but they did let me shoot a lot so I was happy.

Pre-event update

Well, this weekend marks our last event. I have a pound of black powder rolled into rounds. What sucks is that between my dad and I we only have 100 rounds for two days. It sucks but oh well I guess I have to take an early hit.

I'm kind of excited for this one though. This will mark the end of my first season as a reenactor so next year I will be a veteran. What sucks though is I won't see my reenacting family again until next season! I guess that's why we are starting world war two, I mean we pretty much will be at events all year. Its awesome because in a weird way, I enjoy not having my phone or tv for the weekend. Its a great way to get away from everything and all the drama that goes on in the real world.

Introduction

I guess as a new blog I should introduce myself. I am James Fonzi and I am a reenactor in the 25th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. It has taken up most of my life as that is all I think about now and I can't imagine not being able to do it. My first event was the 150th battle of Gettysburg but we will tell that story at a later time...maybe. I also belong to a world war two group as well as a Korean war group. As each of my adventures goes on, I will keep you guys and gals updated in a first person point of view.
